About This Role
Ulinzi is a next-generation Privacy and AI Governance platform that helps organisations manage privacy compliance, operational workflows, and governance programmes. We are building a platform designed by privacy professionals for privacy professionals, with an initial focus on organisations operating across Africa and international markets.
We are looking for a Privacy Product Specialist to help shape the product into a platform that customers genuinely enjoy using. This is not a traditional software testing role. You will act as the voice of the customer within the product team, ensuring every feature reflects real-world privacy practice and delivers an excellent user experience.
Role Overview
As our Privacy Product Specialist, you will work closely with developers on a daily basis to review new functionality, validate workflows, and identify opportunities to improve the platform.
You will test features from the perspective of an experienced privacy professional and recommend practical solutions that make the product more intuitive, compliant, and valuable.
You will play a key role in ensuring that Ulinzi is ready for production and continues to evolve into a leading Privacy and AI Governance platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Test new features against functional requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Validate complete end-to-end user workflows across all platform modules.
- Identify functional gaps, usability issues, and inconsistencies.
- Recommend practical improvements that enhance the customer experience.
- Verify that released functionality meets expected quality standards before deployment.
- Review existing modules and propose enhancements based on industry best practice.
- Translate privacy requirements into practical product improvements.
- Collaborate with developers to refine workflows and user journeys.
- Participate in feature planning and product discussions.
- Suggest new functionality that improves operational efficiency for customers.
- Ensure product workflows align with applicable privacy laws and recognised industry practices.
- Review terminology, templates, and questionnaires for legal and operational accuracy.
- Assess whether platform functionality supports real-world privacy programme management.
- Keep informed of regulatory developments that may influence future product enhancements.
- Develop realistic testing scenarios based on common organisational privacy activities.
- Create representative sample data for testing different modules.
- Validate complex workflows across multiple modules.
- Record findings clearly and prioritise issues based on business impact.
- Prepare user guides and knowledge base articles.
- Review in-product guidance and onboarding content.
- Assist with release notes and product documentation.
- Help ensure customers can successfully adopt new functionality.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Security, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least three years of experience in privacy, data protection, or information governance.
- Strong knowledge of the GDPR and practical privacy programme implementation.
- Experience using one or more privacy management platforms such as OneTrust, TrustArc, Securiti, BigID, or similar.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with a remote development team.
- Desirable: IAPP certification such as CIPP/E, CIPM, or CIPT.
- Desirable: experience with privacy engineering concepts.
- Desirable: familiarity with AI governance frameworks or the EU AI Act.
- Desirable: experience working in SaaS product development or product management.
- Desirable: knowledge of agile development methodologies.
- Desirable: experience writing user stories or acceptance criteria.
